Yesterday I signed myself up to the Project Wonderful program.
Today I’ve received the message that my blog was accepted into their program.
So what’s Project Wonderful?
It’s also an advertisement program where you show ads on your site.
You just preserve some space on your site to display their ads.
This space can have different sizes, 125x125, 468x60, …
But what’s interesting is that in this space you preserved the value of the ads that can be displayed are based on your actual page views and unique users. Every ad that’s sold will be displayed for 1 day which they call Click Per Day or CPD.
The ads that are sold are sold through their infinite auction system. If they make a bid on your ad, this bid will be displayed until your space receives a higher bid. They can bid whatever price they like and for as long as they like.
Once you earn $10 they will pay you out.
I can only say on thing now to conclude this post, start your bidding now when it’s still cheap.
After I said bye bye Blogrush, I started to search for something else that could generate some traffic to my site. Entrecard stood on the top of my list.
So today I’ve signed up to test them out.
At first I visited a few sites to ‘drop my card’ and earn myself some credits.
After returning from shopping and having dinner, I fired up my portable, opened my Maxthon browser and logged in at Entrecard to start looking for some interesting sites where I can drop my card.
But what a surprise I got when I looked at my dashboard. In the couple of hours I went away, almost 35 people dropped their card on my blog and 7 card’s were waiting for approval to advertise on my site.
One hour later, my advertisement spots were sold out. Mainly because I accepted everyone who asked. ![]()
Waiting time to get your card advetised here is 12 days now.
When I was reading some posts in the Entrecard forum, I came across some entries about selling ad spots for entrecard credits (EC) on their site. So what’s keeping me from doing the same?
After I redesigned my site, I finally made work to get my advertisement page up.
At the moment there are 4 visible 125x125 ads. The maximum ad spots I’m going to show is 8. 4 are still available for now.
So if you want your 125x125 ad featured on this site, here’s the deal.
You can choose between 1 week , 2 weeks or 1 month exposure of your ad.
At the moment it costs 15 EC to get your card on my site for 1 day, so I made some calculations for renting the available ad spots.
I think these are pretty fair deals no?
So if you’re interested, leave me a comment or sent me a message in Entrecard.
Your card will be displayed asap after I received the Entrecard Credits and your 125x125 card.
I can only conclude that Entrecard is delivering the traffic it promises, unlike Blogrush.Well done Entrecard !
One of the latest goals I’ve set to myself is to increase my RSS readers or subscribers.
Until now I’ve neglected this part. But this is going to change.
In the next few weeks I’m trying to get myself a decent RSS reader base.
This will be done in a few steps, that I’ll explain here in a series of posts in time.
The first step I already did by implementing a new design.
At the right top of this page you can see the RSS image to subscribe to my Full Feed RSS with an RSS reader or by email.
The next step I’m going to try out is subscribe myself to RSSHugger, which is very easy. Fill in your name, email, pass and that’s it.
After this you need to login for the first time and you’ll be redirected to your RSS panel.
In this RSS panel you can add your blog, specify in which category it belongs, give a description what your blog stands for, and off course fill in the RSS feed itself.
In the profile tab you can also enter your AIM, MSN, ICQ, Yahoo IM and Googletalk id so you can let others connect to you in other ways then only your site or RSS.
And that’s practically all that needs to be done.
But why subscribe yourself to RSSHugger?
Well, they have an interesting concept that can hit big in the next few months.
They want to bring bloggers and readers together for the simple reason that bloggers need readers and readers need something where they can get information.
And to prove they’re serious, they’ve set themselves a goal. In one year they want 50.000 blogs to signup to their service for a $10 joining fee.
But they felt they forgot about the blogs that can’t afford or don’t want to pay $10. So they changed the number to 250.000! You can now sign up with them for free, but they want you to create a post about them, that’s all.
At first this seems like a really unrealistic number, but if you compare to the actual blogs that are currently registered (112 million) and the 175.000 new starting blogs each day, it’s actually not that much.
But I’ll take my hat off for them if they reach 250K sign-ups.
What’s in it for you if you sign up?
To get some competition between the RSSHugger members they created a Top 100 list.
Here they’ll display the RSS feeds of the blogs that had the most people view their RSSHugger page.
And to keep the ‘competition’ open to everyone, it resets every month.
This way it isn’t always John Chow who wins.
He’s ranked on the 8th spot when I created this post.
By creating this post I’ve concluded step 2 and that was subscribing to RSSHugger.
Now only wait and see if they deliver what they promise.
A few months back BlogRush started with an excellent idea. Displaying a widget on blogs with links from posts on other blogs in the same area.
Almost every blog stepped into the hype, giving BlogRush even more exposure what they certainly did deserve at that time.
Even I did it.
On September 16 I’ve made a post about a new tool to generate traffic.
A few days later I talked about why you should join the BlogRush hype
And almost 1 month later, my view on BlogRush changed from “What a great tool” to “pff, they started to soon”
This post I created because they couldn’t get their site up and running to show the stats of each blog.
On the other hand, the widget itself did work and was generating traffic, so far so good.
But that post did in fact cut me off from the program. A few days after I made that post, I got an mail saying my blog didn’t comply with their policies. I immediately responded with the question “Which policy I’m not complying to?”. I never heard of them again. Not even after my second, third and fourth mail.
I didn’t care less.
A few weeks later, I’ve read on another blog that BlogRush finally get their stats working and that the site works. So I gave them a second chance and re-registered my blog.
This time I got accepted to join them.
So the BlogRush widget once again found its way to the Million Dollar Challenge.
I was hopeful that it will bring me some new visitors, but the truth turned out the other way.
At first it did deliver a few visitors, but then it just died I think.
With no visitors at all.
So today I decided to put the BlogRush widget in the trashbin before they cut me off once again for talking ‘bad’ about them. ![]()
What are your experiences with Blogrush, good or bad?
Any other widgets I can try?
Anyone have good experiences with Entrecard?
Last Thursday, me and my girlfriend went shopping for a dishwasher.
This is the first one I ever bought. I know, who the hell doesn’t have a dishwasher by now.
Well you found out now. ![]()
We went to a shop I knew from some previous stuff I bought there. They actually sell to other stores, but also to normal customers like you and me, but at the same price the stores buy.
On this dishwasher alone, I saved about 100€ (aprox. $145) compared to the price in a ‘normal’ shop.
The next thing we’re going to buy for our house and comfort are some custom made curtains for the kitchen.
The kitchen of our house is faced directly to the South. And because one corner of the kitchen consists out of 2 very big windows, it gets very hot in the kitchen. especially in the winter when the sun is lower then in the summer.
Some custom curtains will definitely keep out the sun.
After that’s done, we can cross another thing of our ‘stuff to do at our house’ list.
The list is getting shorter and shorter. But I know for sure once the list is completely empty, my Girlfriend will figure out something to put on the list again. Women he
