After yesterday evening’s finale of the Belgian EuroSong selection, I feel very embarrassed for the song we’re going to send to the Eurovision Song contest in Belgrade on the 24th of May.
We could have sent some old punk rockers (Paranoiacs) with a kick ass song that certainly will stand out from the crowd. Or we could have sent a guy (Nelson) who wrote and composed a very good ballad himself and where you could see that he was singing from the hearth.
Or even better, we could have sent the biggest talent Belgium currently has or ever had, a little girl called Sandrine, with the voice of 100 Diana Ross’s and Tina Turner’s combined and with an excellent and catchy song that will keep playing in your head for a couple of days after. You don’t believe me? Check out the video at the bottom of this post from her.
No, we’re sending some weird chick in a red dress that keeps on singing ‘O Julissi Na Ja …’ and a guy that plays his guitar like he has some kind of spring in his ass. Hell it’s not even a real language that they are singing. A few years back Belgium did the same by sending Urban Trad and they actually finished second, but by sending this poor copy cat act they won’t be top at all.
By choosing this song, either it proves that most of the Belgian people don’t have any taste in music or that most of them or just plain stupid.
Sandrine should have won yesterday and even if she didn’t scored many points in Belgrade, at least we didn’t make a fool out of ourselves then, like we will do now. If this was the purpose, why not send a turkey like Ireland is doing?
Today’s 5th stumble brought me to a post about a new concept for a tower to be built in Dubai.
It seems like lately every prestigious project is taking place in Dubai, but hey they got more than enough money.
The latest project they’re working on is a Rotating Tower that will be in constant motion. Forty-eight wind turbines fitted between each rotating floors as well as the solar panels positioned on the roof of the building will produce energy from wind and the sunlight, with no risk of pollution.

I think this project is just a showcase to get their architecture company in the picture so they can get their hands on another project. This one doesn’t seem to be realizable in my opinion.
But who am I?
A few months back Dubai got in the news for building the highest tower in the world, the Burj Dubai.
And they’re also planning on building a 1200 meters high skyscraper, where will it stop?
Do you think the idea of the rotating tower is realizable?
The first 20 commentators will get their blog or site stumbled by me.
I’m glad to see my previous stumbling Friday post got some comments and to thank them I stumbled their sites.
And for whomever is interested, the Stumble me I stumble you links are still available.
Yesterday I went to CeBit in Hannover, Germany. What a long day it was.
One of my colleagues picked me up at my home around 3.45am. From there we went to another colleague and then on our way to Hannover. About 450km later we arrived at CeBit, well on time.
At 9am the doors opened and we could get in. We made a little plan in front, so we figured out which of the 27 hall’s we sure need to see. Every other hall we could see after that where extra ![]()
The most impressive stand I’ve seen was the IBM stand, it wasn’t only well designed, and pretty nice, it was also very big!
They displayed their latest mainframe the Z10 and their total Blade and server solutions.

Furthermore we’ve seen some very nice water-cooled racks that will keep a lot of servers very cool without the need of an air-conditioning.
What actually did surprise me was the amount of vendors that where offering the same kind of products.
Being in the IT for almost 9 years now, there where lot’s of vendors I never heard of before.
Last year CeBit welcomed over 400.000 visitors, but I doubt they will top that this year. In just a few hours we went through the halls we planned to see and we didn’t had the impression that there where many visitors there. After this we visited all the other hall’s and only stopped at those boots that displayed some interesting stuff.
One nice picture I would like to share with you has nothing to do with IT itself, but a fine car like this Cobra is worth a post no matter what topic.

Garmin also displayed their products, so I could take a look at the new Garmin forerunner 405, it has the same features as my Forerunner 305, but it’s a LOT smaller.
This is the first GPS heart rate watch from Garmin that actually looks like a normal watch. Awesome work Garmin! Maybe I’ll sell mine a buy one myself, but I’m pretty happy with my 305. ![]()
Around 5PM we had visited every hall and decide that it was time to go home. On our way back we stopped to get some food and drove another 450km back to home. A long day, believe me ![]()
Being an active stumbler myself the last few days I’ve seen what a few stumbles of your site could generate in traffic. So why don’t we help out each other a bit and show our visitors that we will stumble them back if they stumbled us?
At the moment I’ve created 3 images to show this and I feel the Entrecard community has the perfect users to implement one of these images on their blog. In the Entrecard forum there are a few stumble posts created everyday and most of them all stumble back.
Because of this I’ve created these images for the same width of the 3 different Entrecard badges.
So anyone of you can pick one and implement it right under your Entrecard widget or any other place you would like.
Also I will keep a list updated here in this post with everyone who wants to join in, so other people can find you and know for sure you will stumble them back.
What do you need to do to join?
Ok, you’ve got the image implemented and you’ve got your post stumbled, how do I know you stumbled me?
Well this is all up to you. What I prefer is a comment or a mail with your stumbling name to verify and the post you would like to have stumbled.
What do you get from this?
Traffic, traffic and some more traffic.
We all know a good stumble can bring in 1000’s of visitors.
UPDATE: After Kexbrown’s comment and some mail exchange, I’m going to adjust this a bit. I agree, we don’t have to Stumble bad pages or posts. So I won’t stumble bad posts, but I will search your site for a good one and stumble that instead.
I hope everyone else will do the same.
Final Update on this matter: I’m quitting this stumble post and will remove the widget from the site. Post closed for further comments also
In february I had 2 Top Commentators, Haney from Selfobliged was one of them.
And as you can read in my previous post, I’m going to reward my visitors who take the time to leave a comment here.
Because Haney replied first to my mail, she will be the first one to get featured here (I’ve already put up her 125x125ad in my sidebar for 1 month). I hope Sarah will reply to my mail with questions pretty soon, so I can put her reward online here also.
Haney is a 22 year old girl from sunny Singapore and is blogging to earn some extra ‘moolah’ (as she calls it
) for financing her studies. She pursuing a degree in Biomedical.
Her blog is about giving tips on how we can live a better and healthier live and everything else that has a touch with life itself.
A few posts I like to point out for reading are her “Safe Sex Fashion” post and her “Are You Having Trouble Sleeping?” post.
Her blog reads very easy in my opinion and I think this is because she blogs very personally or that she has experienced it in one way or another.
But I do want to point out a little tip for you Haney, I see that you have a couple of plugins in your rightbar, like ‘top commentator’ and ‘Blogroll’ (I want to be in it, going to sent you a mail for this).
Did you ever think about implementing a ‘Most Popular post’ section? I have it on my site and I see that it will help to keep your readers on your blog. Just my opinion, other than that, site looks great.
As talked about before, I also mailed a few questions to Haney. Here they are, with her answers.
When did you first start thinking about blogging and why?
I started to think about serious blogging and purchase my own domain since Jan 2008. Why? Cause I wanted to share some tips to help YOU and your loved ones to lead a better and healthier life. But other than, I’m experimenting to earn some income online.
When did you actually start blogging?
3 years back. Not high profile…just meant to be read by close friends.
Did you used a layout template for your blog or did made one yourself?
I’m a noob in designing templates.
Do you blog on more than 1 blog or do you put all your attention to one blog?
Selfobliged.com and another private blog.
What do you like about blogging?
Able to share my views and tips with anyone who reads.
You have any particular recurring topics (for example my Stumbling Friday posts) you post about or do you blog about anything that comes into your mind?
After reading your Stumbling Friday post, I actually started a StumbleUpon Weekend. And some bloggers are starting to follow the great idea. Thanks to YOU, Eric!
Do you use any social media like Digg, StumbleUpon, Technorati, MyBlogLog, others?
The main ones are SU, Technorati, MyBloglog, and LinkReferral.
Why should people visit your site?
I don’t focus on a niche. If you need some self-improvement, check out mine. Do subscribe to my feeds!
What’s the best advice you can give to other bloggers?
Don’t expect readers to only give comments on your blog, do the same to others too.
If you could start over once again, should you do something different?
nah…I’m happy with the way it is.
If you would ask me one question, what question do I have to answer then?
Can you share with me some times on how you earn moolah online? ![]()
My answer: Keep reading my posts in the future, this is one of the reasons why I started this blog, to share things I know or experienced.
This completes my questionnaire. Do you feel like there are other questions I need to ask to my top commentators in the future or did I overlooked some important questions? Let me know, I will take a look at them and if they’re good I’ll ask them next time.
Haney, thx for visiting my blog and hope to see you around here in the future also.
