Adobe AIR released to the public

Just a few hours ago, Adobe released their Adobe Air application to the public. Adobe Air is especially developed to build rich Internet Applications that deploy to the desktop and run across multiple operating systems.

I’ve just installed it on my portable to test it and I must say I’m pretty impressed.
I went to the Adobe Marketplace and downloaded and installed the Google Analytics Reporting Suite.
Filled in my account and voila Google Analytics on your desktop. Works like a charm.

On their marketplace they currently have about 35 applications that are written for Adobe Air, but this number will only increase in the next few weeks, as more and more people will see the benefits of this new tool.
Some applications that are available are: The Google Analytics Reporting Service, SnapShooter by Safari, FotoBooth, StockQ, …

If you would like to develop your own application for Adobe Air, you can download their SDK kit, Flex 3 SDK, Adobe Air extension for Dreamweaver and flex Builder 3 from the tools page.
