Get a high rank in Google is what everyone would like to achieve, but how do you do it?
There are different kind of ways to achieve this, but what I’m going to talk about now is actually very simple.
On Friday the 30th October I made a post, Lewis Hamilton in Top gear, telling he will make an appearance at the Top Gear show on Sunday the 2nd December.
Turns out I’m one of the first (not the first) people who made a post about this.
On Saturday and Sunday, I’ve seen other blogs I often read make similar posts like mine, but so far nothing extra ordinary happened.
But on Monday, the day after the Top gear show, my statistics went crazy. My visitors skyrocketed through the roof like they never did before.
At first I thought I had a problem with my statistics analyzer, but everything seemed to be working fine.
Then it made me think, maybe my Hamilton post was causing this?
When I looked into the stats that where displaying where my visitors came from, almost 80% came via Google with “Lewis Hamilton Top Gear” as search phrase.
Immediately I opened up a Google browser and typed in the phrase. Turns out my post was on the 4th place out of about 970.000 results (see image below). Only the site from Top Gear with 2 pages and BBC where in front of me. Not bad in my opinion

With the knowledge that a lot of people where searching for sites about Lewis Hamilton’s appearance in Top Gear, I quickly made a new post where I’ve putted in the movie from the lap itself. I made an extra link in the post where the visitors landed on my page, to drive them to this new post so they can also see what they wanted to see in the first place.
So what did I learn from all of this?
Be with the first one’s to make a post about something you’ll know people will be talking about and will search for.
Because of this your page will already be indexed by Google at the time it’s actually happening. Other similar posts will get indexed later and therefor you’ll get ranked higher in the search.
Another advantage I’ve seen happening because of these 2 posts is the increment of my RSS subscribers.
